Detailed 14 Days Uganda Gorilla Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

When you get to Entebbe International Airport, our tour guide will be waiting for you with a banner that has your names on it. Upon arrival, you will be greeted and thereafter sent to your designated accommodation in either Kampala or Entebbe for dinner and an overnight stay (for evening and night arrivals), alternatively you will embark on a brief city tour of Kampala and Entebbe, incase you arrive early. One may explore sites such as the Kasubi Tombs, Namugongo Martyrs’ Shrine, the shores of Lake Victoria, and the Uganda Museum, among others. Evening meal and overnight accommodation at your hotel in Kampala. Sheraton Hotel or Kampala Serena Hotel for luxury accommodations; Imperial Royale or Cassia Lodge for mid-range options; Holiday Inn Express or Excellent Hotel for budget-friendly stays.

Day 2: Travel to Murchison Falls National Park

Following breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, your driver-guide will meet you and provide a quick overview of your tour. You will subsequently proceed to Murchison Falls National Park via Luweero-Nakasongola and Masindi. During your journey, you may pause in the Luweero Triangle and the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhinoceros tracking. You will arrive in Masindi town in time for lunch. Following lunch, travel to the park, where upon arrival, you will explore the summit of the falls. This is the most captivating spot within the park. At the summit of the falls, one may witness the splendor of the formidable Nile River as its waters constrict into a 7-meter cleft, plunging over 45 meters and producing a resounding roar. Proceed to your designated accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay at Paraa Safari Lodge for luxury options, Sambiya River Lodge for mid-range accommodations, or Red Chilli Camp for budget-friendly lodging.

Day 3: Game drive and boat cruise

Following breakfast in the early morning, you will embark on a game drive in the northern region of the park. The game drive will offer an array of stunning species in the park, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and other antelopes such as bushbucks, waterbucks, and kobs, as well as warthogs. You will subsequently return to your accommodation for lunch while awaiting the afternoon boat cruise along the Albert Nile. During the afternoon boat cruise, observe aquatic fauna like as crocodiles along the riverbanks, elephants drinking, hippos, and several bird species. Day 4: Transit to Kibale Forest National Park

Following breakfast, you will depart and proceed to Kibale Forest National Park. The journey to the park offers stunning vistas, particularly of the magnificent Rwenzori Mountains in Kasese. You will also encounter many homesteads of local residents in Hoima, as well as plantations of tea and bananas, among others. You will eat lunch in Hoima town and subsequently go to Fort Portal, arriving in the evening. Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale forest and Bigodi swamp walk

Following breakfast, you will be led by representatives from the Uganda Wildlife Authority on a briefing about chimpanzees. The rangers will instruct you on proper trekking techniques and conduct within the forest. Subsequently, you will enter the jungle to commence your quest for the chimps.

Due to the traits that these great apes share with humans, they are referred to as man’s closest buddies. Keep an eye out for chimpanzees, other primates including white colobus monkeys, grey-checked mangabey, red colobus, black-and-white colobus, baboons, and various bird species like the Africa pied king fisher, great blue turacco, malkites, and so forth among the trees. Return to the lodge for lunch following the trip, after which you will embark on the Bigodi swamp walk to observe water-loving avian species.  You will be allowed to stay in their presernce for at most 1 hour, after which you will make your way back to the headquarters for Certificates.The forest is renowned for its 13 species of primates, while the swamp region within it serves as a sanctuary for bird watchers. Day 6: Proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Following a complete breakfast, you will depart Kibale Forest National Park and proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The tour will offer several breathtaking vistas of the Mountains of the Moon. You will arrive in the park by a game drive, providing you to observe various animals and their behaviors at different times. Be vigilant for wildlife such as elephants, leopards, lions, and kobs. In the late afternoon, you will arrive at the park headquarters in Mweya, where you will eat lunch. Unwind while taking a little tour in the vicinity. Following breakfast in the early morning, you will embark on a game drive in the Kasenyi area of the park. The game drive will offer an array of stunning species in the park, including elephants, lions, leopards, buffaloes, and other antelopes such as bushbucks, waterbucks, and kobs, as well as warthogs. Subsequently, you will return to your lodge for lunch while awaiting the afternoon launch cruise along the Kazinga, renowned for having the highest concentration of hippos in Africa. The launch cruise will provide you with views of renowned aquatic wildlife, such as crocodiles along the riverbanks, elephants drinking water, hippos, and various bird species. Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park

You will embark on an early morning game drive within the park to seek out the early risers and animals you overlooked in previous excursions. Alternatively, you may opt for chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge. Subsequently, have lunch and then proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via the Ishasha area, renowned for its unusual tree-climbing lions. While traversing the region, be vigilant for the uncommon tree-climbing lions hiding in fig trees. Make your way to Buhoma in the evening. After a short break, have dinner, and a night’s sleep at one of three Buhoma accommodations: Gorilla Forest Camp or Gorilla Resort for luxury accommodations, Buhoma Lodge or Lake Kitandara Camp for mid-range options, or Buhoma Community Bandas for budget-friendly accommodations

Day 9: Gorilla trekking expedition in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Following breakfast at your hotel, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing with the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. Subsequent to the training, the ranger will guide you into the dense, impenetrable jungle to commence your quest for the endangered rare species of Mountain Gorillas. The search for the gorillas consistently resumes from the location where they were last observed the day before. Upon arriving at the location of these renowned animals, you will be permitted to interact with them for a duration of one hour, during which you must maintain utmost stillness in the presence of the gorillas. You are permitted to take photographs and similar activities. Locating the Gorillas is a laborious endeavor, often requiring 3 to 8 hours. Upon encountering these gorillas, you will readily overlook the challenges endured to locate them and instead cherish the positive memories created throughout your adventure. Following the encounter, you will arrive late at the resort for dinner and an overnight stay as previously mentioned.

Day 10: Transfer to Kabale and Lake Bunyonyi

Following breakfast, you will depart Bwindi and proceed to Kabale, a district often referred to as the Switzerland of Africa due to its picturesque landscapes and favorable climate. You will have lunch in Kabale town, followed by a trip to Lake Bunyonyi for leisure, dinner, and an overnight stay at Arcadia Cottages for upscale accommodations, Bushara Island Camp for mid-range options, or Bunyonyi Overland Camp for budget-friendly lodging.

Day 11: Full day at Lake Bunyonyi-14 Days Uganda gorilla Safari

Breakfast will be provided in the early morning, followed by a full-day boat tour of the lake, visiting many small islands. The lake contains over 38 small islands, each named for the bird species inhabiting it. After eating lunch on one of the islands, you will go to the Pygmy communities to enjoy some entertainment. Day 12: Transit to Lake Mburo National Park

After breakfast on day 12 of the 14 days Uganda Gorilla Safari, you will depart from the Cold Kabale district and proceed to Lake Mburo National Park. After lunch in Mbarara town, you will enter the park via the Nshara gate and go for a game drive. Be vigilant for zebras, impalas, bushbucks, waterbucks, kobs, and similar species. Day 13: Game drive and boat ride on Lake Mburo

Following an early breakfast, embark on the game drive to seek for the early risers within the park. Be vigilant for fauna such as zebras, elephants, impalas, bushbucks, bush duikers, waterbucks, warthogs, and topis. Go back to the lodge to unwind, and then take a boat excursion in the afternoon to look for aquatic creatures like hippos and crocodiles. The lake is abundant in diverse bird species, including the rare shoebill stork. Day 14: Return to Kampala

on day 14 of your 14 days Uganda Gorilla safari, you will go on a morning nature walk in Rubanga Forest, after which you will return to Kampala. On the way, you will stop briefly near the Equator for water experiments and have the opportunity to stand at the point where the two hemispheres meet. Proceed with the drive and make an additional stop at Mpambire Drum Village, renowned for its drum-making craftsmanship. Arrive in Kampala in the afternoon. Drop-off will occur at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe.
