A Detailed 6 Days Uganda Gorilla Habituation, & Wildlife Safaris

Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Bwindi

The Rwandan capital, Kigali, is the designated meeting point. Embark on a short Kigali City Tour. Explore the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site to gain insights into the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, a tragic event that resulted in the loss of nearly a million lives within a matter of days. Enjoy lunch in Kigali before proceeding to Southern Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Your journey through the Cyanika Border will include a stopover at the picturesque Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. Proceed beyond the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, and on a clear day, you will capture stunning photographs of the three Virunga Mountains: Sabinyo, Muhabura, and Gahinga Mountains. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park located in South Western Uganda.

Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Forest

The guide will collect you following an early breakfast and transport you to the Rushaga Outpost of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Learn the “Dos” and “Don’ts” of gorilla habituation and appropriate behavior when among gorillas in the wild. Accompanied by a UWA Ranger Guide, embark on a hike into the dense jungle in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The Gorilla Habituation Experience may last between 6 to 10 hours, contingent upon the movements of the mountain gorillas within the forest. Tracking requires navigating steep, densely forested hills, ultimately leading to the discovery of gorillas hidden within the surrounding vegetation.

During your encounter with the mountain gorillas, you will spend 4 hours observing and photographing these magnificent creatures. Upon completion of the gorilla habituation, please return to the park offices to collect your certificate. In the afternoon, participate in the Batwa Experience to gain insights into their historical lifestyle within the forest. Stay overnight at Chameleon Hill Lodge (Luxury)

Day 3: Embark on a Nature Walk to the Waterfalls.

Commence your day with a nature walk in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Embark on a hike to the waterfalls located within the park. Following the hike, proceed to Queen Elizabeth National Park. This National Park is recognized as a UNESCO World Biosphere and boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings among game reserves globally. A total of nearly 100 mammal species and an impressive 606 bird species are present. Elephants, numerous hippos, the elusive giant forest hog, and the striking Uganda kob are all frequently observed.  Evening Game Drive within the Park. Day 4: Conduct an exploration of Queen Elizabeth National Park

Embark on a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park. Following the game drive, return to the lodge for a mid-morning breakfast and lunch.

In the afternoon, embark on the launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel. The boat ride offers a rewarding experience with opportunities to observe a diverse array of wildlife, including schools of hippos, crocodiles, and various bird species along the shores of the lake. Experience an overnight stay at the Luxury Camp adjacent to the Lake at Mweya Safari Lodge.

Day 5: Chimpanzee Tracking and Journey to Lake Bunyonyi

In the morning, embark on a chimpanzee tracking adventure in Kyambura or Kalinzu Forest. Chimpanzees represent one of the endangered ape species that can be observed in Uganda.

Following the chimpanzee tracking expedition, proceed to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale, a district renowned for its stunning landscapes and favorable climate, often referred to as the Switzerland of Africa. Following lunch in Kabale town, you will proceed to Lake Bunyonyi for a period of relaxation. Evening meal and accommodation at Bunyonyi Bird Nest Lodge

 

Day 6: Half-Day Excursion at Lake Bunyonyi. Journey to Entebbe.

Breakfast will be provided in the early morning, followed by a boat tour on the lake to one of the islands. The lake features nearly 38 small islands, each named after the bird species that inhabit them. Upon concluding the tour, proceed with your return journey to Kigali or Entebbe.
