Day 1: Arrival and pick up from the airport – Transfer to your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala

Our representative will be present at the airport upon your arrival. He will present himself to you and provide an overview of the 15 Days Uganda Rwanda Congo Safari tour. Day 2: Proceed to Murchison Falls National Park – observe Rhinos at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary

Begin your day with breakfast and depart early in the morning for Murchison Falls National Park. As you proceed, take in the stunning landscapes of the Ugandan countryside while navigating around the Luwero war triangle. Luwero served as the operational base for the National Resistance Movement during its guerilla warfare prior to assuming power. Prior to arriving at Murchison Falls National Park, there will be a scheduled stop to observe white rhinos at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. White Rhinos are a critically endangered species that have been eradicated from Murchison Falls National Park as a result of poaching activities. In order to save the few surviving rhinos, the sanctuary was established with the goal of eventually reintroducing them to the main national parks.

Following your observation of the rhinos, you will proceed to Amuka Lodge for lunch before continuing your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival, you will proceed directly to the summit of Murchison Falls, where you will capture photographs of this magnificent waterfall from its highest point. Day 4: Journey to Kibale National Park

Observe the fascinating long-horned ankole cattle as they graze alongside the roads. Lunch will be taken in Fort Portal, followed by a tour of the town. Your itinerary includes a visit to the headquarters of the Toro Kingdom, followed by a trip to the nearby Kibale National Park.

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking at Kibale National Park – Head to Queen Elizabeth park

Following a restful night, rise up early for breakfast and proceeded to the Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing on chimpanzee trekking in Kanyanchu. The lead guide will provide you with comprehensive information regarding chimpanzees in Kibale Forest National Park, including guidelines on appropriate conduct and necessary items to bring along.

The activity lasts between 3 to 5 hours, and while Kibale Forest is renowned for chimpanzee tracking, there are additional attractions that may capture your interest. The forest serves as an ideal location for bird watching, while also being home to 13 primate species and a variety of other mammals. After locating the Chimpanzees and spending one hour with them, you will return to your hotel for lunch and some rest.  The representative from Gorilla-Safaris will facilitate your transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening. The travel duration from Kibale Forest National Park to Queen Elizabeth National Park is approximately 2 hours. If time permits, there will be opportunities to pause along the route to observe crater lakes or explore ancient caves.

At 2:00 PM, you will be escorted to the Kazinga Channel for an afternoon boat cruise. Day 8: Engaging in gorilla tracking at Bwindi National Park – Exploring the culture of the Batwa Pygmies

 

Following an early morning breakfast, proceed to the park offices for a briefing on gorilla trekking at 7:00 am. The Head Guide will provide you with information regarding what to anticipate during the activity, what items to bring, and the appropriate conduct while interacting with the Ugandan gorilla family. Prior to your visit to the park, you will be assigned to a gorilla family according to your age and overall fitness level.

Many gorilla trackers choose to engage porters to assist with additional luggage, and we encourage you to consider this option as well. The duration of gorilla tracking is contingent upon the specific location of the gorilla group being observed. Once you are with them, capture as many photos as possible, as you are permitted only one hour to observe.  Mountain Gorillas exhibit playful and curious behavior, with some individuals approaching closely. Pay attention to the guide’s instructions and maintain a composed demeanor at all times. The guidelines and regulations for gorilla trekking will assist you during your time with the gorilla family.

Upon concluding the activity, please return to the designated starting point where the company driver will be awaiting your arrival to transport you back to the lodge for lunch and a period of rest. Day 11: mountain gorilla trekking in Rwanda – Explore the Iby’iwacu cultural village

Begin your day with breakfast prior to attending the briefing at the park headquarters in Kinigi. Volcanoes National Park is home to 12 habituated gorilla families, and you will be assigned to one based on your overall fitness and age. Certain gorilla families inhabit areas that are more distant from the park offices, necessitating additional hours of tracking to locate them. Utilize this opportunity to inquire extensively about the gorillas, forest inhabitants, and the park itself. In the Volcanoes National Park, gorilla trekking takes two to six hours, but you only get to spend an hour with the Gorillas. Upon concluding your one-hour experience with the gorilla family, you will return to the starting point to meet our guide, who will escort you back to the lodge for lunch and a period of rest.

In the evening, you will have the opportunity to visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village in Musanze, conveniently located near the Volcanoes National Park. The name of the Centre has been updated to Gorilla Guardians Village. Initially, it served as a marketplace for former poachers to sell artifacts and various products to tourists; however, the government has since undertaken a significant transformation of the area. The village has evolved into a contemporary hub providing exceptional cultural entertainment for visitors attracted to the activities at the volcanoes national park. During your visit to the Centre, you will have the opportunity to engage in traditional dance performances, where your participation will be encouraged.

Day 12: Golden Monkey Tracking in Rwanda – Explore the twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo

Tracking golden monkeys in Rwanda is a more time-efficient experience compared to gorilla trekking. Following a period of hiking through the forest, one may observe groups of golden monkeys perched in the trees, as well as some on the forest floor. Capture numerous images of these charming yet endangered primates. Following this, return to the lodge for lunch and a period of relaxation before embarking on an evening drive to explore the twin lakes of Ruhondo and Burera.

Day 14: Transfer to Goma, Congo – Hiking Mount Nyiragongo

You will rise early to enjoy breakfast prior to your transfer to the Congo border. Upon receiving clearance from border officials, you will proceed to Congo to meet with the Virunga National Park team. The team will proceed to Kibati village, the designated starting point for the hike up Mount Nyiragongo volcano. The ascent to the summit is expected to require approximately 4 to 6 hours, contingent upon the overall fitness levels of the group. All participants will remain accounted for until the conclusion of the hike. The Nyiragongo volcano stands as the sole destination globally where visitors can pay to observe a lava lake at close range. The lava lake can be observed safely, as the volcano has not exhibited any signs of eruption in recent years. The evening meal and overnight accommodations will be provided in cabins at the summit.

Day 15: Conclude the volcano descent and proceed to Kigali for departure.

In the morning, you will commence your descent from the volcano and be transported back to Goma town, arriving by midday. You will subsequently return to Rwanda and drive back to Kigali, arriving by 3 PM. Upon arrival in Kigali, a city tour will be conducted. The itinerary encompasses a visit to the Gisozi genocide memorial site, exploration of the city markets, a tour of the presidential palace museum, and stops at artisan shops for souvenirs. Following the city tour, our company driver will provide transportation to the airport for your departure or to your hotel if you are still in the area.
