If you are interested in experiencing the Great Migration Mara River Crossing from late July to September, the itinerary will need to be adjusted regarding accommodation at Lemala Kuria Hills. If this is acceptable to you, we recommend flying into Serengeti North and driving out to minimize long drives and maximize your stay in the Kogatende area/Serengeti North.

9 Day Rwanda Gorilla and Tanzania Luxury Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Upon your arrival at your hotel in Kigali City or at Kigali International Airport, you will be greeted by your driver/guide from gorilla-safaris.com. They will assist you in your transfer to Volcanoes National Park, which is approximately a 2-hour drive north of Kigali. You will arrive in time for lunch, dinner, and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Iby’Iwachu Cultural Village Tour

Following breakfast today, you will be taken to the Park headquarters for a briefing on the regulations regarding gorilla trekking. You will proceed into the jungle to look for for the Mountain Gorillas. Upon locating them, you will spend one hour in their presence, providing a remarkable experience for all participants. In the afternoon, you will have the opportunity to visit the Iby’iwacu local village to gain insights into Rwandan culture, customs, and traditions. The tour typically concludes with traditional dance performances. Please return to the Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

 Day 3: Proceed to Kigali International Airport for your flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport.

Following breakfast, you will be transferred to Kigali International Airport in accordance with your flight schedule, from which you will board your flight to Kilimanjaro International Airport. After landing at Kilimanjaro International Airport in the late afternoon, you will be driven to your Arusha hotel for dinner and the night.

Day 4: Departure to Seronera Airstrip and Afternoon Wildlife Drive

Following breakfast at the hotel, and based upon your flight schedule, you will be driven to the nearby Arusha Airport to board your small aircraft to Seronera Airstrip in Serengeti Central. You will arrive in time for check-in, lunch, and subsequently enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Seronera area, renowned for its year-round presence of predators and other wildlife. Following the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 5: Explore the Serengeti Plains

Today, you will embark on a full day game drive in Central Serengeti, where you will have the opportunity to observe predators in pursuit of their prey and witness the aftermath of their hunts. The Serengeti stands as the most renowned wildlife sanctuary globally, unmatched in its natural beauty and scientific significance. Experience a game drive in the vast expanses of the Serengeti, where you may encounter the magnificent herds of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles, or observe a pride of lions resting in the shade.

Day 6: Hot Air Balloon Expedition and Full Day Exploration of the Serengeti Plains

Today, you will rise early at 6:00 AM and be transferred to the Hot Balloon Safari starting point. From there, you will embark on a flight to explore the beauty of Serengeti National Park and observe the wildlife until 7:30 AM. You will enjoy a bush breakfast until 9:30 am, after which you will proceed with your full-day game drive alongside your guide, accompanied by your packed lunch. In the evening, you will return to the lodge for a hot lunch, dinner, and overnight at the accommodation.

Day 7: Enjoy a Relaxing Day at the Lodge

Today, you have the opportunity to enjoy a leisurely day, whether by relaxing on a sun bed beside the hotel’s free-form, infinity-edge pool while observing elephants at the nearby watering hole under a vast turquoise sky, or indulging in spa treatments and various in-house activities and experiences.

Day 8: Proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area for a Game Drive in Ngorongoro Crater

Following breakfast today, you will proceed to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will subsequently explore the Ngorongoro crater accompanied by a ranger. This area is often likened to the Garden of Eden on earth. A significant variety of wildlife can be observed in a single day, including all of the big five: elephant, black rhino, buffalo, lion, and leopard, along with numerous cheetahs, hyenas, hippos, zebras, and wildebeests, which are particularly abundant. A lunch break will be taken. In the afternoon, you will proceed with game viewing in the southern corner of the park, where you will visit Lake Magadi, offering opportunities to observe flamingos, hippos, and various other water birds. Following the game drive, you will return to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
