Day 1: Arrival and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda

 

Upon arrival, you will be greeted by our tour guide at the airport or at your hotel in Kigali after breakfast. The itinerary begins with a visit to the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Museum in Kigali, followed by lunch before proceeding to Ruhengeri Province. The journey to Volcanoes National Park takes approximately 90 minutes. This park is renowned as a habitat for mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Upon arrival, you will check in to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Local Community Tour

 

Following breakfast at your lodge, you will be transferred to the headquarters of the volcanoes National park for a briefing on the endangered mountain gorillas, their habitat, and other tourism resources within the forest, including the Dian Fossey and the golden monkey. Afterward, proceed into the forest to trek the endangered mountain gorillas. Upon encountering the gorillas, capture unforgettable photos and videos. Enjoy your packed lunch and water before returning to the head office to receive your gorilla trekking certificate.

 

Head back to your hotel for a hot lunch, and you may choose to relax or take a community walk to the Musanze local market, or visit cultural villages. Dinner and overnight accommodations will follow. as of Day 1.

Day 3: Second Gorilla Trek / Cultural Village Tour

Enjoy an early morning breakfast before embarking on the second gorilla trek to visit another gorilla family. Afterward, return to the lodge for refreshments and lunch. You may then choose to explore the Musanze caves, take a nature walk to the picturesque Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo, or participate in a tour of the Iby’Iwachu cultural village. Day 4: Optional Activities

Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the Dian Fossey center, where you will immerse yourself in the legacy of the esteemed primatologist who championed the conservation of the endangered mountain gorillas in the misty volcanoes National Park. As an alternative, we can engage in golden monkey tracking or visit orphanages and local schools prior to our return drive to Kigali, marking the conclusion of the tour.
