Day 1: Kigali to Volcanoes National Park

Upon arrival at the airport or your hotel, you will be welcomed and provided with a briefing regarding the 2 days Rwanda gorilla trekking Safari in Volcanoes National Park. Set out for Volcanoes National Park, one of just four national parks in the world that offers the opportunity to meet mountain gorillas in their natural habitat.

 

The trip north passes through the stunning terraced slopes that make up a large portion of Rwanda’s terrain, progressively ascending to the foot of the magnificent volcanoes, which occasionally have up to five peaks visible.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking and Return to Kigali

Gather at the Kinigi Park headquarters to receive instructions on the guidelines for gorilla trekking. Here are some things you’ll need for gorilla trekking: a day bag, waterproof hiking boots, a camera (without a flashlight), long-sleeved shirts or t-shirts, pants, a walking stick, and maybe even some food to munch on.

You will be assigned to a small group of eight tourists to track one habituated gorilla family, and your gorilla trekking expedition will last approximately four to eight hours, based upon your hiking pace, the features of the habitat, and the location of these gorillas. Upon finding them, you have only one hour of face to face contact with them, after then you will make your way back to the headquarters of Kinigi Subsequently, return to Kigali, ending your 2-day gorilla safari in Rwanda.
