3 Days Gorilla Habituation Safaris-Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Day 1: Kigali  to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

You can arrange for pickup in either Kampala or Rwanda’s capital, Kigali. If you are in Kigali, consider taking a short city tour in Kigali. Explore the Gisozi Genocide Memorial Site, where you can gain insight into the 1994 Rwanda Genocide, a tragic event that resulted in nearly a million lives lost in a matter of days.

Enjoy lunch in Kigali before traveling to the Southern Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. When traveling through the Cyanika Border, you will enjoy a break at the beautiful Twin Lakes of Bulera and Ruhondo. After passing the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, you will be able to photograph fantastic pictures of the Sabinyo, Muhabura, and Gahinga Mountains, which are the three Virunga Mountains, if the weather permits. Proceed to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southwestern region of Uganda.

If you are being picked up from Entebbe or Kampala, go to Bwindi Forest. Make a quick stop at the Equator to take pictures. Stop for lunch Mbarara, the Land of Milk and Honey. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving in the afternoon. The journey begins at 8:00 AM in Uganda.

Day 2: Gorilla Habituation Experience in Bwindi Forest

Following a hearty breakfast, your tour guide will arrive to pick you up and take you to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s Rushaga Outpost. Learn about the essential ‘Dos’ and ‘Don’ts of the gorilla habituation experience, including the appropriate behavior to maintain while in the presence of the gorillas in the forest.

Accompanied by a UWA Ranger Guide, embark on a hike into the dense jungle in search of the endangered mountain gorillas. The Gorilla Habituation Experience may last between 6 to 10 hours, influenced by the movements of the mountain gorillas in their forest habitat. Tracking requires navigating steep, densely forest-covered hills until you eventually encounter the gorillas hidden among the trees. When you encounter the mountain gorillas, you will spend 4 hours with these magnificent primates indulging in watching and taking pictures. After the gorilla habituation, unwind at the lodge. Stay overnight at Rushaga Gorilla Camp (Midrange) or choose between Chameleon Hill Lodge and Nkuringo Bwindi Lodge (Luxury).

Day 3: Journey back to Kampala or Kigali

Following breakfast, begin your journey back to Kigali or Kampala. Drop off at the airport to board your flight back home.
