Detailed Itinerary For 5 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking & Chimpanzee Tracking Safari

 

Arrival: Transportation will be arranged for your pickup from the airport or hotel. Arrangements for accommodation prior to the tour departure can be made for an additional fee.

 

Day 1: Kampala/Entebbe – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

 

In the morning, at 7 AM, your driver guide will meet you from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala, and you will proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. Your guide will include stopovers at the Equator crossing in Kayabwe for photography, a brief discussion, and some experiments.

Lunch will be served at a small eatery on route to Mbarara town in the afternoon. Subsequently, you will proceed past picturesque banana plantations, farms, and the remarkable Hills of Kigezi.

In the evening, you will arrive and proceed to check in at the lodge for relaxation and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Following your early morning breakfast, your guide will get you to the Park Headquarters for a briefing session. You will join others before proceeding into the forest for your gorilla trek. The duration of this trek can range from 30 minutes to 8 hours, contingent upon the location of the mountain gorilla family on any given day.

Day 3: Travel from Bwindi to Kibale National Park

In the morning, following breakfast, we will proceed to Kibale National Park for an overnight stay at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House. This excursion will guide you through Queen Elizabeth National Park, offering opportunities to observe various wildlife as we traverse this savannah-dominated national park.

During the afternoon/lunch period, there will be an additional opportunity to cross the Equator at Kikolongo. As you travel through Kasese district to Fort Portal, you will encounter several rivers that originate from the Rwenzori Mountains. A lunch stop will be made in Fort Portal town before continuing on your journey.

Evening: Arrive at the hotel in Kibale and check in at Chimpanzee Forest Guest House. You will have the opportunity to relax before enjoying dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Chimp Trekking in Kibale and Bigodi Wetland Exploration

Morning/Briefing: Following breakfast, you will proceed to Kibale National Park Headquarters for an informative session on the guidelines for chimpanzee trekking.

You will be separated into groups of 8, each led by a guide who will accompany you into the bush to locate a family of chimpanzees. Chimpanzees inhabit communities ranging from 50 to 250 individuals; however, they typically divide into smaller groups during the day to minimize competition for food. In the evening, they will reconvene to construct their nests.

Trekking and Observation: Upon locating the Chimps, you will have the opportunity to spend one hour in their presence before returning to the lodge for lunch.

In the afternoon, following lunch, you proceed to embark on a wetland walk in the nearby Bigodi Village. Kibale National Park is renowned for its 13 documented species of primates and a variety of bird species.

In the evening, you will return to the hotel to unwind, enjoy dinner, and spend the night, concluding your day.

Afternoon Meal On your journey, you will continue and take a lunch break in Mubende at a local restaurant.

In the evening, you will arrive in Entebbe/Kampala and proceed to your post-tour accommodation (not included) or to Entebbe International Airport for your international departure flight, completing your 5 days Chimpanzees & Gorilla trekking safari.
