Day 1: Drive to Nyungwe National Park.

Detailed 6-Day Rwanda Gorilla Safari Itinerary

Day 1: Drive to Nyungwe National park

 

The tour guide will pick you up in the morning and take you on a picturesque drive to Nyungwe National Park. You will visit the Nyanza King’s palace for a cultural experience, as well as the Butare National Museum and the Murambi Genocide Museum, among others. Travel to Nyungwe in the evening for dinner and overnight accommodations at Gisakura Guesthouse (budget) or Emeraude Kivu Resort (deluxe/luxury).

 

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and afternoon forest canopy hike

 

In the morning, you will depart for a chimpanzee tracking expedition in the forest. Proceed to the hotel for lunch, then in the afternoon, partake in a forest canopy walk to appreciate the panoramic vistas of the forest. Dinner and overnight like on day 1.

Day 3. Transfer to Gisenyi on the shores of L. Kivu

In the early morning, you will embark on a remarkable journey to Gisenyi via the northern shores of Lake Kivu. In the evening, embark on a canoe ride with the melodic fisherman on the lake while absorbing the picturesque sunset over the water. Evening meal and overnight accommodation at Lake Kivu Serena hotel (luxury) / Paradise Malahide (deluxe)

 

Day 4: Boat cruise and transfer to Volcanoes National Park

In the morning, you will go on a boat ride to the hot springs. Upon return, you will proceed to Volcanoes National Park. Accommodation and dinner at Mountain Gorilla View Lodge, Five Volcanoes Hotel, Tiloreza Volcanoes Eco Lodge (luxury), Gorilla Solution Lodge, Davinci Gorilla Lodge (deluxe), or Muhabura Hotel (cheap).

 

Day 5: Gorilla Tracking and Afternoon Cultural Tour

 

In the early morning, equipped with a packed lunch, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting the gorilla tracking expedition. In the evening, you will embark on a cultural excursion to Iby’wachu, where you will gain insights into Banyarwanda culture. Evening meal and overnight stay (Day 4).

 

Day 6: Golden monkey tracking, followed by transfer to Kigali and a city visit.

 

In the early morning, you will embark on golden monkey tracking and see their playful behavior in the forest. Travel back to Kigali and arrive early to see local markets and the Gisozi genocide memorial, among other things. You will subsequently proceed to the airport for your departing flight.
