Day 1: Entebbe to Lake Mburo National Park

From Entebbe, proceed south to Lake Mburo National Park. The park consists mainly of grassland, marsh, and acacia forest ecosystems. Lake Mburo is situated at the heart of the park and, along with 14 additional lakes in the vicinity, constitutes a comprehensive wetland system. The park features topi, eland, klipspringer, zebra, buffalo, oribi, sitatunga, leopard, and a diverse array of water and acacia savannah avian species, including crested crane, marabou stork, and bronze-tailed starling.

Day 2: Lake Mburo National Park – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Today, we journey from Lake Mburo National Park to the Kabale district, thereafter ascending into the high terrain of the verdant Uganda Highlands—often referred to as the ‘Switzerland of Africa’—offering magnificent views of this picturesque landscape. From there, we proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, our base for gorilla tracking. The day will be long in the vehicle, traversing captivating landscapes, agricultural fields, and verdant hills, nevertheless you will have the remainder of the day to unwind at the lodge and appreciate the vistas of the forest.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Forest National Park

A dawn expedition into the jungle on the volcano’s slopes, guided by seasoned trackers, will immerse you in the presence of a family of Mountain Gorillas. These gigantic primates are exceedingly rare, with an estimated population of about 720 individuals left. You will be within meters of the family and have the honor of spending an hour with them. Upon returning to the camp for a late lunch, we have the option to engage in forest treks with the guides or simply to unwind. Gorilla trekking can be quite challenging, often lasting 6 hours or more at considerable altitude.

Mountain gorillas are wild creatures, hence sightings cannot be certain; yet, the success rate exceeds 90%.

Day 4: Return to Kampala
